Dr Catherine Carmichael

Dr Catherine Carmichael is a Victorian Cancer Agency Mid-Career Research Fellow and Laboratory Head within the Centre for Cancer Research at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne. She obtained her PhD in 2008 from the University of Melbourne, investigating inherited predispositions to Bone Marrow Failure syndromes and Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). She undertook postdoctoral training at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute and Monash University, before establishing her research group at the Hudson Institute.

Dr Carmichael’s current research focuses on identifying critical mechanisms underpinning development of AML and using this information to design and develop new therapeutic approaches.
