Captain Courageous joins forces with Maddie’s Vision to supercharge the mission

We have some exciting news to share!

For 10 years, the Captain Courageous Foundation has raised money and awareness for Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes. Their mission: to seek a cure for children suffering life-threatening bone marrow failure diseases by funding crucial medical research.

It is a mission that is incredibly aligned with Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision. We fight the same fight.

Now, Captain Courageous is joining forces with Maddie’s Vision and by pooling our resources, we’ll increase our momentum to find better treatments and cures.

“Captain Courageous and Maddie’s Vision are already family, working towards a shared vision” says Elaine Montegriffo, CEO at Maddie’s Vision.

“We’re thrilled about this collaboration that will supercharge our joint research efforts to find better treatments and cures – faster!”

Money raised by this incredible community will now fund the Captain Courageous Fellowship, administered by Maddie’s Vision through our Centre of Research Excellence in Bone Marrow Biology.

More details to come soon, but in the meantime, to the whole Captain Courageous community, a very big, very warm welcome!

Please get in touch and say hello — we’d love to hear from you!

About Captain Courageous

The original Captain Courageous is Angus Bond.

Angus holds Captain Courageous and Oscar while undergoing a regular transfusion.

At just eight weeks of age, Angus was diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan Anaemia (DBA), an inherited Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome.

Inspired to find better answers for children like Angus, his family set up Captain Courageous.

Since then, many passionate people have joined the South Australian charity in raising over $4 million and funding some incredible research.

The research projects funded by the Captain Courageous Foundation continue to thrive and are established as long-term research programs.

As for the original Captain Courageous? Angus is now 13 years old and still as courageous as ever.

He is visiting the Women’s and Children’s Hospital every 3 weeks for his life-saving blood transfusions which he takes in his stride.

Angus is excited about the holidays and spending time with his family and looks forward to this exciting new partnership.
