A Reflection 2015 – 2019: Maddie’s Match

On Sunday 5th April, 2020, we were supposed to celebrating 5 years of Maddie’s Match with the teams at St Kilda and Richmond Football Clubs. As we know, alot has changed since and our beloved game is not going ahead. The whole of Australia is working together to #stayathome. We thought it was a good time to reflect, be grateful and remember what we have all achieved. Lets take a walk through the positive impact you have made – join us on memory lane and the contribution you have all been part of creating.

To date, the partnership with St Kilda Football Club, together with the extended AFL community has helped us to raise over $2million through Maddie’s Match. It was all of you who helped fund our first ever medical research project – A National Aplastic Anaemia Registry. Through the power of this community, others have come together and been inspired. Almost 5 years later, we have raised over $8million towards our mission of finding a cure for Bone Marrow Failure. With thanks to all of your continued support, we are making significant inroads – a National Centre of Research Excellence in Bone Marrow Biology has been established. You are also enabling continued funding for access to genomic testing for all diagnosed patients. These are just a few of the 19 significant research projects that are leading to better diagnosis and treatment certainties. These advancements would not be possible without your support. Please enjoy these vignettes and photos as we take the time to stop, remember and celebrate the power of people coming together to #FightLikeMaddie. We look forward to the time when we can all physically come together in the future and continue our good work in our fight against Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.
