We need your help to drive Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome research forward!

Could you, a family member or one of your patients help shape the future of Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome research in Australia?

The Aplastic Anaemia and Other Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes Registry (AAR) and Australian Marrow Failure Biobank (AMFB) are national initiatives helping researchers build a clearer picture of Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes and accelerate progress towards better diagnosis, treatment and care.

But their impact depends on participation. And we need your help.

People affected by these rare conditions may be eligible to contribute valuable health information and samples. Every person who gets involved adds to our collective understanding of Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes and strengthens the research that could help improve outcomes for patients and families now and into the future.

Funded by Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision and developed in partnership with Monash University’s Transfusion Research Unit and Biobanking Victoria, these initiatives are building vital national resources for Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome research.

More people. More data. More opportunities for discovery.

There are now 775 people participating in the AAR, helping researchers build a national picture of Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes in Australia.

The Australian Marrow Failure Biobank is also continuing to grow, with 4 participating sites collecting samples from eligible patients.

• Concord Repatriation General Hospital
• Perth Children’s Hospital
• Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

How to get involved

If you or a family member has been diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia or another Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome and you are receiving care at a participating AAR or AMFB site, speak with your treating haematologist or healthcare team about whether you may be eligible to participate.

Are you a healthcare professional? You can play an important role too. Please consider referring eligible patients to the AAR and AMFB and helping more people affected by Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes contribute to this important national research effort.
