In March, we proudly delivered our second National Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome Awareness Week, uniting patients, families, partners and supporters across Australia to raise awareness of Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes and inspire life-saving action.
Held from 2–8 March, the campaign encouraged Australians to Raise Your Voice. Save Lives and Join us in the fight against Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.
Together with the support of our dedicated partners, Lifeblood and Stem Cell Donors Australia, the campaign reached more than seven million Australians. Most importantly, the campaign inspired meaningful action.
During Awareness Week, 65,632 blood donation appointments were booked through Lifeblood, while 201 people registered as stem cell donors during blood donations and a further 96 people enrolled through Stem Cell Donors Australia.
The campaign was brought to life through powerful patient stories, sharing the experiences of Joel, Luci and Joycelyn, each highlighting the life-changing impact of blood and stem cell donation. Their stories resonated strongly with audiences and helped drive significant engagement across the country.
A particular highlight was our partnership with the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA), featuring Australian cricketer Cameron Bancroft and the inspiring story of the Bowler family. We are incredibly grateful to WACA for their support and to the Bowler family for courageously sharing their journey to help raise awareness and encourage more Australians to become blood and stem cell donors.

Throughout the week more than 30 iconic landmarks across Australia lit up purple in support of Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome patients and families, creating a powerful display of solidarity and awareness nationwide.
National Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome Awareness Week continues to play a vital role in raising awareness, encouraging lifesaving action and ensuring the voices of patients and families are heard. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s campaign such a success.
