The symposium will bring together expert clinicians, scientists and allied health professionals to present innovative research on the diagnosis, treatment, patient care, and clinical trials for Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes. We are thrilled to welcome international guest speakers Dr Emma Groarke (National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, US) and Dr Marcin Wlodarski (St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, US), alongside over 15 national speakers who will showcase their research. We are thrilled to announce our invited international keynote speakers:
Dr Emma Groarke, M.B., FRCPath
Assistant Research Physician and attending hematologist and physician researcher in the Hematopoiesis and Bone Marrow Failure Laboratory at National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, Bethesda, Maryland, United States.
Dr. Emma Groarke graduated from University College Dublin in Ireland in 2011. She completed her postgraduate training in general internal medicine and hematology through the Royal College of Physicians, Ireland. She is also a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, UK. In April 2019 she completed a fellowship in bone marrow failure at the National Institutes of Health and was appointed as staff in 2019 where she a clinical investigator running trials in a number of areas including aplastic anemia, MDS, CHIP, IBMFS, and VEXAS.
Dr Marcin Wlodarski, MD, PhD

Dr. Marcin Wlodarski is an Assistant Professor at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where he directs the Bone Marrow Failure (BMF) and Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) Program. He received his MD and PhD from Charité Medical School, Berlin, with additional training at Karolinska Institute, Stockholm. His postgraduate training included pediatrics residency and hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Freiburg, Germany. Dr. Wlodarski’s research focuses on the genomics of inherited hematological disorders predisposing to BMF, MDS, and leukemia. His laboratory has made discoveries in genetic syndromes caused by mutations in SAMD9/SAMD9L, GATA2, RPA1, and MDM4 genes. At St. Jude, he established a comprehensive BMF/MDS program and leads innovative clinical trials.
With over 100 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Wlodarski’s work has been recognized with awards including the Tito Bastianello Award and the Kind Philipp Prize. He chairs the US-wide registry for pediatric BMF/MDS of the North American Pediatric Aplastic Anemia Consortium. Dr. Wlodarski divides his time between clinical duties and directing a laboratory focused on the genomics of BMF syndromes.
