Maddie’s Match #8

This August, the St Kilda Football Club hosted the 8th Maddie’s Match between St Kilda and Richmond at Marvel Stadium. This match is a fan favourite for both St Kilda and Richmond supporters and is an important annual platform to raise further awareness of Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes, and funds to ensure Maddie’s Vision can continue working towards our mission.

Saints help make a dream come true for Seth

The highlight of the match was when young Seth, a St Kilda fan and Aplastic Anaemia patient, had his dreams come true by running out with the team at the start of the match. Seth proudly wore his custom St Kilda guernsey, signed by the entire team, and was beaming with excitement.

Raising awareness for Jack

At half time, our CEO Amy Coote interviewed Hannah, who lost her fiancée Jack to a Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome. Hannah shared Jack’s story and the devastating impact of Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes on patients and loved ones. Her courageous and moving words reinforced why we need to keep fighting to fund research into better treatments and to provide the support to patients and families that they desperately need. You can read more about Jack and Hannah’s story on our website.

Lighting the city for patients and families

After an exciting Maddie’s Match and a win for St Kilda in the bag, landmarks across Melbourne lit up purple – Maddie’s favourite colour – to show support to patients and families.

Thank you to our generous supporters

None of this would have been possible without our partner, St Kilda Football Club, who have supported Maddie’s Vision since we were founded to help us raise awareness, improve support options, and fund vital research to find a cure for Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.

Thank you to Richmond Football Club, Foxtel Group, QMS Media, Mike Tarr Photography, and Maurizio Vasile for supporting Maddie’s Match this year.

To our supporters and incredible Maddie’s Match volunteers, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your time, generosity and commitment to Maddie’s Vision. We couldn’t do what we do without your support!

We can’t wait to see you all at Maddie’s Match next year, continuing our journey towards a brighter future for patients with Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes and their families.
