2026 CRE Expert Webinar Series on Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes – Expert Webinar 2
GATA2 Coming of Age: From Discovery to Haematological Evolution
The Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) in Bone Marrow Biology is proud to present the second Expert Webinar of our 2026 series for our scientific and clinical community featuring guest speaker, Associate Professor Marcin Wlodarski, MD, PhD.
Date: Wednesday 26 August
Time: 11.00 am–12.00 pm AEST
Location: Virtual, via Zoom (link will be provided prior to the event)
Associate Professor Wlodarski is a physician-scientist in the Department of Hematology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, and Director of the Bone Marrow Failure and Myelodysplastic Syndromes Program.

In this webinar, he will explore the major discoveries that have shaped our understanding of GATA2 deficiency over the past 15 years, including its clinical presentation, natural history and haematological evolution.
The presentation will draw on themes from his recent Haematologica commentary, GATA2 coming of age: 15 years from discovery to symptoms, and on knowledge gained through his mutational registry with more than 1,000 GATA2 cases (stjude.org/GATA2), while also exploring the latest clinical and scientific insights into GATA2 deficiency. He will also discuss findings from his team’s recently published study of 218 individuals with germline GATA2 variants, the largest paediatric cohort of GATA2-related myelodysplastic syndromes to date, which provides new insights into age-dependent clinical and molecular evolution.
The session includes a 45-minute presentation and 15-minute Q&A, chaired by Associate Professor Lucy Fox. This session is suitable for clinicians, researchers, scientists, allied health professionals and students working in Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.
Attendance is free, with registration required. Registered participants will receive the Zoom link prior to the event.
