Kylie Wilson

Kylie is a Queensland primary school teacher, single parent and active member of her Christian community. For many years, she has been dedicated to supporting young people through education, fostering resilience, wellbeing and lifelong learning.

In 2025, Kylie was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anaemia following months of declining health, extensive investigations and a bone marrow biopsy that revealed significantly reduced bone marrow function. Her diagnosis introduced her to the realities of living with a rare and serious bone marrow disorder and the challenges of navigating complex healthcare systems.

Living on Southern Moreton Bay Island, Kylie experienced firsthand the unique barriers faced by people accessing timely healthcare in regional and remote communities, including significant delays in emergency medical assistance during a critical period of her treatment journey.

These experiences have strengthened her commitment to advocacy, awareness and support for people affected by Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes. As both an educator and a patient, Kylie is passionate about improving access to information, support and care, and bringing the voice of lived experience to initiatives that improve outcomes for patients and families, regardless of where they live.
