NHMRC Ideas Grant increases funding for Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome research

Dr Vashe Chandrakanthan, Maddie’s Vision Fellow and a member of our Centre of Research Excellence in Bone Marrow Biology, has received an NHMRC Ideas Grant for his project, “Generation of Long-term Human Haematopoietic Stem Cells from Endothelium for Regenerative Medicine Solutions”, with funding to commence this year.

Dr Chandrakanthan’s grant application was based on the preliminary data generated during the first year of his Maddie’s Vision Fellowship for his project, “Discovery of novel niche factors to improve long-term stem cell transplantation in bone marrow failure syndromes”.

This has now raised our leveraged funding to an incredible $23.3 million to further advance Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome research in Australia! Congratulations Dr Chandrakanthan and his team on this well-deserved recognition.
