We were delighted to host our first virtual Patient and Family Educational Session for 2024, focusing on Aplastic Anaemia on Wednesday, 29 May.
We secured three leading haematology experts who provided an introduction to Aplastic Anaemia and the role of transplantation in adult and paediatric patients.
• Dr Lucy Fox – Haematologist, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre
• Dr David Hughes – Paediatric Haematologist and Bone Marrow transplant specialist, Royal Children’s Hospital
• Professor David Ritchie – Haematologist and Bone Marrow transplant specialist, Royal Melbourne Hospital
Dr Lucy Fox presented on ‘Introduction to Aplastic Anaemia’, Professor David Ritchie presented on ‘Treatment Pathways for Aplastic Anaemia in Adults’, and Dr David Hughes presented on ‘Treatment Pathways for Aplastic Anaemia in Children’.
There were 26 registrations for the session and 18 patients and family members in attendance – an outstanding result. The webinar was recorded and is now accessible to all impacted by Aplastic Anaemia. We have also conducted an evaluation for this session and received the following feedback:
“I thought the experts were fantastic, presented very well and were able to get important points across.”
“I’d actually rate the session 11/10!”
“The information was shared in a logical way and the information of each presenter inter-linked well.”
