Meet Belinda, an adventurous hiker who’s taking on a mighty challenge this year. She’s decided to hike the State 8 Peaks, which are the tallest mountains in each state of Australia, while raising awareness and funds for Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision.
Belinda’s decision to combine her passion for hiking with her desire to raise awareness for Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes came from a love of the outdoors.
“Anyone who knows me, knows they can find me up in the mountains hiking, camping and fishing. l wanted to set myself a challenge, not only for myself but to show others an ordinary person can achieve. Because anything is truly achievable with a positive mindset.”
Belinda was diagnosed with a blood disorder in 2023 and understands the struggles that come with it. “l wanted to show my support to all the people who are currently living with these syndromes and going through treatment that you’re not alone. I hope I can bring some change and get awareness out there for all the current and future Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome patients.”
To complete the State 8 Peaks, Belinda will be hiking the highest peaks in Australia, starting with Bimberi Peak in the Australian Capital Territory, followed by:
