Community support shines bright

Thank you to our generous community fundraisers for supporting Maddie’s Vision

Our community of supporters is at the heart of everything we do at Maddie’s Vision. Our heartfelt gratitude to the community groups who get together and fundraise to find better treatments, cures and support options for patients with Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes and their families!

AFL Ladies Luncheon

The AFL Ladies Luncheon is held in Tasmania every year. Following the success of last year’s event, committee members Cara Griggs, Jordyn Mayne, Kylie Price and Tara Dorloff decided to hold it in the Huon Valley once more. On Friday, 29 September, at Home Hill Winery, 110 ladies gathered to celebrate the year and an excellent season of AFL.

The event included a two-course meal, live band and bottomless drinks. Guest speaker Loryn Zoldi shone a light on topics many people like to push under the carpet or tend to suffer in silence about, leaving attendees inspired to strive to be the best versions of themselves.

A raffle and silent auction were held, with $4087 raised and generously donated to Maddie’s Vision. The band EVERBURN played at the event and has proved to be a crowd-favourite!

“People look forward to this event all year, it’s such a fun afternoon and we can’t wait until next year’s event,” organiser Kylie Price said. “It will be bigger and better than the last!”

Thank you to Cara, Jordyn, Kylie, Tara and all the guests for your generous support of Maddie’s Vision.

Central West AFL fundraising match

On 5 August 2023, Central West AFL banded together in support of Liz Shaw, who was recently diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia. A league-wide charity round was organised to raise vital funds and awareness for Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision. Both the men’s and women’s divisions across the central west showed their support by wearing purple laces, running meat raffles and donating money. Liz’s partner, Tom Byrnes, joined in the efforts on the day by putting on the boots for the first time this season. He was voted best on ground for the Dubbo Demons!

Thank you so much to Central West AFL, we are incredibly grateful.
