One of the most damaging players in the AFL, Brendon Goddard’s 334 game career provided passion, skill and character which saw him be one of the most respected players in the AFL. The first pick in the 2002 NAB AFL Draft, the Saints were impressed by Goddard’s outstanding disposal, excellent endurance and speed, and strong hands both in the air and at ground level.

Goddard represented Australia in the U17 AIS/Academy team that toured Ireland in 2002 and Victorian Country in 2002 U18 Championships where he was named in the All Australian.

In recent years, Goddard has become one of the games’ best players, highlighted with All Australian selection in 2009 and 2010 as the Saints reached the AFL Grand Final. He also finished top three in St Kilda’s Best and Fairest, averaging 27 and 28 possessions per game in each season and was one of the club’s most consistent finals performers. Goddard’s spectacular mark and goal late in the 2010 Grand Final against Collingwood sits as one of the greatest highlights of all-time.

After 205 games with the Saints, Goddard would be one of the first to move clubs through free Agency in 2012 to the Bombers where he would win their best and fairest award in his first year. Goddard provided his new club with a player capable of providing drive in a number of different positions.

2017 saw Brendon continue to excel as he played all 23 games, including an elimination final. Brendon also played his 300th game in round 11 against GWS, a remarkable achievement. Whilst 2017 was Brendon’s 15th season in the AFL, he has shown only signs of further development, averaging 26.7 disposals a game, his best since arriving at Essendon.

After 334 games Goddard goes down as one of the most decorated players to play the game in the past decade. WHAT IS HE DOING NOW….. GOLF?
